New grant: Klaus Faber Fellowship
Klaus Faber Fellowship for multiple sclerosis junior researcher
Dr. Leon Hosang, postdoc at the Institute for Neuroimmunology and Multiple Sclerosis Research of the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG) has received a grant to research the regulation of autoimmune processes in the brain. This fellowship is endowed with 300,000 euros and its aim is to make it possible to establish an independent research group for multiple sclerosis basic research.
A kick-off event for the grant took place in the Klaus Faber AG’s logistic center in Hedemünden on 31.09.2021: The photo shows (from left) Gerhardt Pfefferle, head of the Klaus Faber Stiftung’s steering committee, presenting Dr. Leon Hosang with the fellowship certificate. [Photo: private]
Dr. Leon Hosang’s excellence as a junior researcher at the IMSF is recognized by this fellowship. The grant should place him in a position to establish his own specialist research topic and thereby take the decisive step towards scientific independence. In the career of a junior scientist to have one’s own research group as a principal investigator (PI) is a decisive step that requires not only scientific excellence but also sufficient funding. The generous funding by the Klaus Faber Stiftung will give Dr. Hosang the space in the next few years to concentrate on his research and thereby to deepen and expand the very promising work that he began during his PhD.
