New publication in "Cells" journal
An article was published in the journal “Cells” in February, the fruit of a long-standing cooperation on research into glucocorticoids between IMSF’s PD Dr. Fred Lühder and Prof. Holger Reichardt of the Institute for Cellular and Molecular Immunology, UMG. It could be shown that glucocorticoids impact the energy metabolism of T cells both in the mouse and in the human system as exemplified in methylprednisolone-treated MS patients. This immunomodulatory effect could underlie the already observed effects of cytokine repression and reduction of T cell activation as response to glucocorticoid treatment. The experiments in the mouse system were conducted by Jasmina Bier who carried out her Masters’ project at the IMSF and is co-first author in the current publication.
